    Weston Choral Presents Mendelssohn’s Elijah - A Summer Concert Highlight

    Weston Choral is delighted to announce its forthcoming Summer Concert, to be held at All Saints Church, Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 23 May 2026 at 7.30pm. This special evening will feature a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s dramatic oratorio Elijah, sung in English.

    A cornerstone of the choral repertoire, Elijah is a thrilling and deeply moving work that brings to life the biblical story of the prophet Elijah through powerful choruses, expressive arias, and richly dramatic orchestration. From the electrifying intensity of "Baal, we cry to thee" to the radiant beauty of "He watching over Israel," Mendelssohn’s masterpiece promises an unforgettable musical journey for performers and audience alike.

    Weston Choral is proud to present an outstanding quartet of soloists: Freya Holliman (Soprano), Arina Lernik (Alto), Mike Gormley (Tenor), and Lucas Maunder (Bass), whose combined artistry will bring depth, character, and emotional intensity to this epic score.

    The performance will be accompanied by the much-loved and highly respected Richard Lennox, whose musicianship and experience will add brilliance and sensitivity to the evening’s music-making.
