The performance will feature the stirring "Toward the Unknown Region" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, a setting of Walt Whitman’s visionary poetry that captures the spirit of adventure and discovery. Also by Vaughan Williams, the heartfelt "Five Mystical Songs" blend George Herbert’s devotional texts with luminous melodies, evoking a profound sense of faith and wonder. Adding a contemporary touch, the hauntingly beautiful "Stabat Mater" by award-winning composer Cecilia McDowall explores themes of sorrow and hope, weaving together rich textures and poignant harmonies. The evening also includes Vaughan Williams' rousing setting of "The Hundredth Psalm," a jubilant anthem of praise and celebration.
