More about the Society

ONE of the oldest musical groups in Weston we always welcome new members to help us to continue making sweet music.
Weston Choral Society is known to have existed since 1865 but there is some evidence it could date back as far as 1840.
The group says its aim is to ‘bring good choral music to the people of Weston and the surrounding district’. It gives concerts twice a year, at Christmas and in the Spring.
Members tend to be more ‘mature’ singers but the society is actively seeking to recruit younger budding musicians.
Musical director Ray Willis has been in his post for three years and is a professional musician, qualified organist and music teacher.
Since joining the group he has introduced members to voice training and development exercises that can be tried out in the rehearsal room, at home or even in the car.
Richard Lennox is always on hand at meetings to provide the musical accompaniment to the group's glorious singing.
He is described by the society's publicity officer, Gordon Pritt, as ‘an extremely talented pianist’. Richard has his own exciting web site at
